Transformers

I agree with the statement that "If it's true that there's an 8-year-old kid inside every person, "Transformers" is just the ticket to bring the kid out." It certainly brought back memories of when I was young and ever so eager to catch the animated series of Transformers Gen 1/2, Beast Wars and Robots in Disguise. Used to remember fiddling around the the toys and the occasional snap here and there when attempting to put them together again. Ahh... those were the days. Watching this movie felt so right and I dare to say it is one of the best movies I ever watched to date!
But everyone knows the actors are mere props for an impressive show of transforming Autobots and Decepticons into enormous robots within a few seconds. And to set them in real spaces and having them interact with real objects was a real gem. Yes, we all remember the Autobots vs The Parents scene. It was a blast! The fight sequences were exciting, although they tend to become a mess of flying wreckage and random explosions.
The experience was terrific and I must have irritated Fred with at least fifty "This is SOOOO cool..." statements during the show and about a hundred times after. Go catch it if you can. We highly recommend the 4K digital version, only available at Golden Village.

Apple TV hack
The USB port on the Apple TV is virtually useless because Apple had disabled it. Fortunately, the chaps from AppleTVHacks managed to come out with a hack that enabled the USB port to communicate with an attached USB HDD. This is useful for user who wants to add more storage without the opening up the AppleTV.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
We aren't HP fans and didn't read the novels. But through the last 7 years, we have managed to catch 4 out of 5 chapters in the cinemas and came to know the fantasy world of HP affectionately. The Order of the Phoenix represents the point where the fun ends for Harry. Magic can be found in the performances, especially with Dolores Umbridges's sadistic behavior coupled with exciting scenes during Dumbledore's Army training sessions and of course, the famous battle between Voldemort and D.A. This movie does nothing but whet our appetites for the denouement.

A brilliant performance! Well Done Jacky!
Jacky's powerful vocals filled the Singapore Indoor stadium last night. His performance was incredible! It was filled with fantastic live music, exciting fireworks and fancy footwork. He passionately and skillfully delivered popular songs from his albums. We'll never forget this night for we have just witnessed the performance of one of the greatest singers ever lived. "."

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
We found the movie enjoyable despite what the critics said. :-) The Silver Surfer oozed of cool-ness while the Human Torch (Johnny Storm) entertained us with his humourous antics. There are tons of CGIs in this movie and they are wonderfully employed in depicting the world's end and of course, the Surfer's movements and actions. The interesting bit is that the line between what's real and what's manufactured is almost never noticeable. The story was wonderfully told and we had a great time! Do watch out for it when it hits the DVDs!

Delicious Swiss biscuits!
While visiting Switzerland last year, I was served a very delicious Swiss biscuit by my host. I managed to track down the brand and brought a few packs home with me. These yummy goodies were finished in a blink of an eye. I could not get a hold of the brand locally until recently when I chanced upon it in a supermarket in the basement of the former Daimaru along River Valley Road. The biscuit that I am talking about is the Kambly - Mont Choco. The thin biscuit is covered with chocolate laced with bits of nougat, but be careful, they're very addictive. My friends told me you can also get it from NTUC, but I've never come across it. Do give it a try, I'm sure you'll love it.
2% more from today
Time flies, and the day has come. From today onwards, we'll have to pay 2% more GST for most if not all the things we buy. Chances are, we may be paying more than the 2% as businesses take this opportunity to increase the selling prices of their goods. We shall see.
