Nikon's PMA announcements

Nikon announced a couple of Nikkor lenses and a new DSLR body, the D60 at PMA. The D60 is a 10 megapixels camera, capable of continuous shooting at up to 3fps and equipped with a 2.5-inch LCD.

Onto the lenses... Nikkor AF-S Micro 60mm f/2.8G ED is ideal for macro photography and is equipped with the silent-wave motor. Nikkor PC-E 24mm f/3.5D ED is ideal for architectural photography and is IMHO the missing lens in Nikkor arsenal for a long time. Lastly, the Nikkor AF-S DX 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR. This lens looks like a replacement model for one of my favourite budget-lens the older 18-70mm. The former should be an ideal lightweight travel lens to match with the D60.

Othello gathering :-P

SunsetYesterday, we had a a small gathering with a few MUGS pals at the Sunset Grill, located at Seletar East Camp. The restaurant is well-known for their spicy chicken wings and drumlets (Level 1 to a very, VERY spicy 10) and their buttoned mushrooms. The boys were daring enough to take on a Level 4 while we girls had an entertaining time watching them literally sweat over their food. :-P

Othello

We also took the opportunity to take some pictures of an Othello gathering, 2 white GTIs sandwiching a black S-GT. It was great, with the picturesque background of the airport and an aircraft hangar.

1st outing with VAGSG

02.jpgWe attended our first inaugural Volkswagen / Audi Groups Singapore (VAGSG) meetup held at Kallang McDonald's. The usual suspects turned up and boy did we get a surprise when an Audi R8 appeared! We could hear the V8 FSI engine roar as it made its entrance. Impressed were we, with its carbon fibre trimmings, the beautiful LED headlights and who could resist the aerodynamics on the car in the form of 2 large diffuser openings and a small popup spoiler! Direct your mouse here for some pictures! :-)

Sashimi lobang!

IMG_0065.jpgRecently, our friend Jeff recommended a fantastic sashimi place named Sakuraya. They have branches all over Singapore and we visited the one at Parkway Parade. When we arrived, we noticed that it had a similar concept to the Greenwood Fish Market, i.e. a market one corner and a few tables in another. They had a huge array of sashimi and Fred soon selected a scallop, swordfish and salmon combo. Jeff mentioned previously that their sashimi is airflown twice weekly, but sadly for us, the next shipment was delayed. Nonetheless, we had a great meal and even bought a few packs of cha soba and soba sauce home for those late night snacks. :-) Yummy....

A new beginning!

Today marks a new beginning for the both of us! After five long (and arduous :-P) years of courtship, we are finally tying the knot today. It has been a long trip of its' equal share of ups and downs and we're glad to have each other for company.

All the planning, anticipation, stress..... has accumulated to a grand finale today. As we set off on a new journey in our life together as man and wife, we're thankful that our friends and loved ones have taken time off their busy schedule to share this important occasion with us.

Please view some images shot by our friend Jeff in his gallery. God blesses...

Test shot - Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8

nikkor_14-24_01.jpg

When Nikon announced that they will be releasing a 14-24mm f/2.8 lens a couple of months ago, I was delighted because of the aperture and range offered. The lens will provide a very interesting perspective to the images shot with it. I finally had the chance to test out the lens last week, and I throughly loved the images it produced. Here's a test shot to show the quality of the image it captured. Time to save up for it, I guess. :-)
