Thrills & Spills

The Singapore Formula 1 GP was finally over with Fernando Alonso driving a Renault coming in first and Nico Rosberg in a Williams-Toyota taking a well deserved second even after taking a 10 seconds drive-through penalty. Sitting comfortably in third place was Lewis Hamilton in a McLaren-Mercedes, inching ever closer to his world championship title dream. There was lots of thrills and spills during the race, Felipe Massa (Ferrari) and David Coulthard (Red Bull-Renault) drove off with their refueling hoses still attached to their cars, Nelsinho Piquet (Renault), Kimi Raikkonen (Ferrari) and a few other drivers hit the concrete walls at different parts of the race. Is this a successful F1 race by Singapore? Judging from the coffeeshop talk among the Ah Peks, the men in suits during lunch hours and the crowds at the race. Suddenly everyone is into the Formula 1 fever! We certainly think so. :-) Definitely looking forward to the next race!

Singapore F1 GP fever

IMG_2186.jpgThe Singapore Formula 1 GP has just started, here's a photo of the track when the lights were being stressed tested before its grand opening on Friday when the actual F1 drivers and their cars take to the roads. The lights were blinding and it was as though you were driving during the day! From the looks of it, it is a very tricky circuit with high accelerations down the straights and quick braking maneuvers to overcome the many tight and near 90deg-angled turns.

We are in for a terrific show this weekend! ;-) No predictions here, as street circuits are very unpredictable. Alonso might just be reclaiming his pride from the last Valencia street circuit. :-P Then again, who knows?

Now when will the car be launch in Singapore? :-P

IMG_2119.jpgWe adopted Stitch from our recent trip to Japan and he has been lovingly called the "Blue Monster". (We know, not much creativity here... And whoever adopts stuffed toys?!) Since then, he has been loved dearly and last week, he found himself in Japan and the U.S.! Not bad for a first trip eh? :-)
