New Trojan threatens Macs with installer
We came across a web posting that highlighted a new threat to Macs.
A new version of an existing Trojan based on RS.Plug.A, the RSPlug.D Trojan is said to find its way onto computers through malicious websites, namely several less scrupulous porn sites. On visiting a particular page the viewer will be greeted with a "Video ActiveX Object Error," stating that their browser cannot play a particular video; it then asks the viewer to download the ActiveX object in question. A disk image file will be downloaded with a name such as cleanlive.dmg; Intego warns that several different filenames may be in use. This image may then attempt to mount itself and launch its contents automatically.
Defense against the Trojan is possible by avoiding suspicious websites or refusing to accept the download, though if the ActiveX dialog is encountered, it becomes impossible to navigate away without closing a browser entirely.

Phishing #1
Recently, I received an email asking me to provide the originator with financial details. The alarm bell in my head ranged immediately as I suspected the originator was masquerading as Paypal (note the highlights in the email as shown above) and reported the case to Paypal for investigation. It turn out that my suspicion was correct, the masquerader was trying to phish for financial details.
Please do take note if you ever receive any email asking for your financial detail, it is always prudent to double check.

Restore Your Mac Data with Time Machine
When the unimaginable happen to your Mac, for example, the hard drive died. The best thing that one can hope for was that a backup was done recently and not too many data was lost. Apple has helped us by including a very easy to use application in Mac OS X Leopard called Time Machine. But, how do we restore all our data when the hard drive died on us? Here's an article that will take us through the process, every step of the way.

Yummy Green Tea Ice Cream
This is the second best Green Tea ice cream that we've come across, and they can be bought from most supermarkets that have a good Japanese confectionary section. They're not number 1 because that place was taken by the Green Tea Gelato from Haato. Nevertheless, do give it a try if you even come across one shop that sells it, you may like it.

Quantum Of Solace - Worth watching
We've recently watched the latest 007 movie, Quantum Of Solace. There were the usual beautiful ladies, car chases and crashes, bad guys getting killed and a patriotic ending. What stood out most was the lack of unbelievable gadgets, except for the super-duper computer systems with its multi-touch-like controls. We like that! It makes the show more realistic. The show was enjoyable and certainly worth watching.

Astons Prime Ribeye Extra-cut
The Prime Ribeye Extra-cut from Astons Specialties was nicely done, complemented with delicious house & potatoes salad. Though not the best steak we've tried, it is value for money.

Mindmapping with iPhone
Mindmapping is a very intuitive way of taking notes, recording ideals and even creating a task list. We felt that the best way to do a mindmap is with a sheet of paper; the next best is using software application on our Macs. Our favourite app is Mindnode (free) or Mindnode Pro, which we've highlighted here before. We recently found out that we could also mindmap on an iPhone. Though not the most ideal way, it is be useful when other tools are not available. One of the better app on the iPhone for mindmapping is iBlueSky, it can be bought off AppStore.
